Thor in the Ice Cave by myspacetom

One of the highlights of my current stay in Iceland was visiting this cave. When in Iceland, I try to make it a point to only photograph men named Thor -- it's as common a name as Tom or John in America. via 500px http://ift.tt/1H0rQAL

blessed light by zsoltvaranka

troll tale image 3. planned to visit the famous Troll's church (Trollkyrkja, Norway) with friends, and that's not an easy hike, especially with a 12 kg backpack filled with camera and lenses and tripod on such a trail like on shot. We had a mysterious foggy day, and felt the cutting glance of the Trolls all day long... (see the first image of this series) However, once got high enough and out of the forest the fog suddenly swept out so we could look around and admire the view, discover the landscape hided by the fog till now (see the previous photo of this series). Finally, got to the famous cave, so, let's get into! Full darkness, large, wet, slippery stones, put on headlamps, help wife and Oti to climb. After a few minutes we got to the end of the S-shaped rocky route to the tight bay with a hole at the top, where blinding light comes into and a small waterfall derive. The Troll's Church, mysterious! Small place, 2 photographers with tripods just about to have enough space, quick shots and head back to cars, it is almost 6.00 pm, long way to back, partly in darkness. Was a great day, again! via 500px http://ift.tt/1yQ6zZ6

Shine by MAPhoto

This winter version of one of Alaska's most impressive ice caves (it goes on for more than 1 mile) really brings the icy elements together more than any other I have done. My heli pilot was equally impressed, standing alone in the entrance here. This is 3 shots at f/16 for DOF blended about 10cm off the ice I think it looks better on black and I do notice compression is hurting the resolution just a little. Appreciate any thoughts you may have! via 500px http://ift.tt/1ybJ6wa

Cathedral Cave by Crispy_Scapes

Cathedral Rocks Cave – Kiama I had no plans to shoot the sunrise this morning but for some reason I awoke at 4am and thought I should go attempt a shot I've had in mind for a few months. I had a geez at the Photographer's Ephemeris, tide and sunrise time and it was all looking good! So I got up and gazed out at the night sky and I could see stars and some clouds. So I quickly grabbed my gear, Kuba (my dog) and left. I’m pretty lucky to live less than five minutes from Cathedral rocks, so I was at the cave around 4:30am So the spontaneous sunrise shoot paid off! Even though I nearly got eaten alive by mosquitos in the cave and was dreading the possibility of a crab biting my backside as I sat in the cave waiting, I got the shot I wanted.
