Ancient Of Days by williampatino

Sculpted by the waves of times past, sitting as one with this earthen shore. Defenseless as the night sky is pierced from east to west, utterly reminded of our mortal existence. Cathedral Rocks Kiama, NSW Australia. via 500px http://ift.tt/1CUNzY9

Mellifluence by tinobeyer

Another shot from the "Pfersag Fall" during December after a few days of rain and snow. The creek is bearing much more water now compared to earlier autumn days. I also chose another perspective to give an idea about the scale of the location and what it looks like around the fall. I post-processed the HDR image which was merged of two exposures (4s for the water and highlight areas, 10s for the shadows, especially the small cave area behind the waterfall) in Photoshop, mainly through adjustment layers. Furthermore I set a high pass filter and ran the detail enhancer action, both for the center area from the waterfall to the lower right corner of the picture. via 500px http://500px.com/photo/93828023

Heart of Gold by EliaLocardi

While I was in Italy working with the Fstoppers team a few weeks ago, I had the pleasure of putting my new Formatt-Hitech Firecrest ND filters to good use in Cinque Terre! I have to say that it’s incredible what kinds of in-camera effects can be achieved when you leave the shutter open for a few minutes at a time. This image was captured using a Firecrest 10 stop filter with a long shutter speed of 181 seconds. As you can see, the exposure was long enough to create a really beautiful soft water effect as well as long streaky clouds. Since the sun was just about to touch the horizon at sunset, there was still plenty of soft golden light accumulating on the rocks and the surfaces of the old Italian buildings. It’s a time of day photographers like to call "golden hour" and in my opinion, it can be one of the best moments for long exposure photography. During the golden hour, the light is soft enough to not cause harsh shadows but still strong enough to create even and natural illumination. Of course the golden light also does wonders to the color palette, which is a big plus. :) More information about long exposure photography and the new Firecrest filters: http://bit.ly/travel-filter-kit --- If you're interested in my work, feel free to drop me a line on Instagram or my website EliaLocardi.com. via 500px http://500px.com/photo/93752863

Martin's Beach I by nlwirth

The thing you have to understand about this image is that I captured it in the middle of a raging, relentless storm, the wind delivering a seemingly unending deluge of pelting rain and, at times, waves slamming into me as I tried to make my way around the beach (one drenched me all the way up to my stomach and nearly sucked me out to the sea). I clenched my umbrella and held it as steady as I could over my camera and tripod. I was drenched to my skin by the time I had finished my session down there. That black in the sky is a very dark, passing storm cloud. It was an exhilarating experience ... via 500px http://ift.tt/1CHcDSG
