When Nature Strikes Back by tm-foto

Rubjerg Knude is the name of a huge sand dune of approx. 200ft height located in northern Denmark. In 1900 a lighthouse started its work there, but over the times it was more and more covered by the sand. People digged out the lighthouse for several times, until in the late 60s they had to give up: The problem of the ever flying sand was so massive that the lighthouse was stopped. Since the 90s the dunes are declared as a nature reserve area. via 500px http://ift.tt/1xJD0ai
