Break Through by dgt

France - Normandie - Vierville-sur-Mer (close to Omaha Beach) This pier is close to the site where the Mulberry Pier was built for D-Day in June 1944. It is a milestone in the gloom of irrationality The Mulberry Harbour’s purpose was to ease and speed up the unloading process so that Allied troops were supplied as they advanced across France after breaking out from Normandy. The success of D-Day could only be maintained if the advancing troops were supplied and more men landed. The Mulberry Harbour was one of the greatest engineering feats of World War Two Sacrifice, Courage and Competence!!! via 500px http://ift.tt/165ImlY

ETRETAT by fredconcha

The small town of Etretat has a rare beauty. Etretat sits on a stretch of the Normandy coast known as Côte d' Albâtre. This name comes from the limestone cliffs that form the beautiful cliffs along this stretch . via 500px http://ift.tt/1vR8mvU
